One of the great benefits of working in the performance automotive industry is having the opportunities to go to different car shows and events across Canada and the United States. Every year the SEMA Show is held in beautiful Las Vegas Nevada during the first week of November, which couldn’t come at a better time to squeeze in a bit of warm weather before our harsh Canadian winters. What is SEMA? SEMA stands for Speacialty Equipment Market Association and is the largest aftermarket automotive trade show where we get a chance to check out product demonstrations, educational seminars, tool showcases, and meet some cool people in the industry.
With this being my third time visiting Las Vegas for SEMA I was determined to see and do as much as i could, while enjoying great food and the night life Vegas has to offer without going over budget or falling for the tourist traps that lurk around every escalator or casino floor.
Don’t Skip Leg Day!
The Vegas Strip has lots to see and do, I walked up and down the strip far too many times over the course of the week. The convention center is absolutely massive be prepared to do a lot of walking on this trip or you’ll be renting a motorized scooter on day 2!
With the show filling up all three buildings at the Convention Center cars and vendors spill outside combined to create an indoor outdoor car show experience.
Of course West Coast Cutoms is always at the SEMA Show.
This 4 Rotor FD RX-7 caught my eye so I had to go in for a closer look, the alternator has been moved to the side to make room for the custom cooling system plumbing and the electric water pump.
Need for Speed’s Magnus Walker inspired RWB Porsche 964 promoting the new video game.
If you enjoy fishing and camping this is the ultimate outdoor adventure vehicle.
Liberty Walks new wide body Mini which was vinyl wrapped and then airbrushed small details to bring out the lines of the kit, it has an old military feel to it.
This was my second time meeting Liberty Walk’s founder Wataru Kato who always seems to be smiling and in a great mood at the show with his Japanese translator to help answer any questions.
There were plenty of Rauh-Welt Begriff custom built Porsches scattered all around the show this 964 was in th H&R Booth.
Mazda had their Roadster concept car on display.
Plenty of different product demos going on from wrapping cars to new tools hitting the market its hard to see everything at the show.
The Auto Fashion Acura NSX debuted last year sporting the Rocket Bunny Kit in a Chrome Blue, this year in white on a set of bronze TE37’s you can’t go wrong with that combination.
Bulletproof Automotive had their newly completed BMW Z4 and what a transformation this car has undergone. With the power folding roof and windshield removed this car mixes Japanese and European styling with the old school formula open cockpit racecars. I really like the fender mirrors and side exit exhaust.
We stopped by the Exedy booth to checkout the new Hyper Series Organic Twin Disk clutch and flywheel for the 1991-1996 Acura NSX.
The Fast and Furious star Sung Kang’s ’73 Datsun 240Z was getting a lot of attention parked outside of the Central Hall.
The power plat was swapped to a Nissan naturally aspirated RB26 tuned by GReddy to make 350-400 hp. One thing I noticed was the custom shock towers to integrate camber adjustment in the chassis for both front and rear.
Sung took home best Asian Import at the Gran Turismo Awards on Wednesday at Marquee Night Club.
Lots of big turbochargers on display at the Precision booth loving the bellmouth on the compressor inlet.
GReddy had their new coilovers on display made by KW.
